Today’s Resolution: Pretend-Shop for Your Dream House

Since we’ve been in Florida, we’ve been seriously considering never coming back. Taking the idea lightly, we’ve been driving around neighborhoods and spending an abundance of time on Zillow. So many homes have four bedrooms, 3,000 square feet and giant screened in pools. And they cost under $200k, so it’s really hard to look considering that a 200k house where we’re from is either small, somewhere thirty miles out of town, or it’s a “fixer-upper”.

So naturally, we’ve been seeing some pretty amazing houses along the way and have been geeking out over them. That’s why today’s resolution is to pretend to shop for your dream house. What would be your “must-haves”?

Today’s Resolution: Stand Up Straight

Stand Up Straight

Everyone tells you to stand up straight when you’re a kid because they don’t want you to end up with a hunch or scoliosis. As an adult, standing up straight will make you look thinner and more confident. It’ll also make your boobs look bigger if you’re a girl. Also, the hunch thing, nobody wants that.

So today’s resolution is to stand up straight, sit up straight, and look damn sexy doing it.

Today’s Resolution: Stay Focused and Productive

If you’re in the US, you’re probably thinking that this resolution doesn’t apply to you, but it does. It’s Memorial Day, so what? Well, how often do you spend time with your friends and family and sometimes disappear onto your phone checking email or reading Facebook? If you have the day off today, your goal is to stay focused on what you’re doing (like having a BBQ). Put the distractions away and be awesome at what you’re doing right now—even if it’s eating a hotdog—by staying focused.  And if not, then get back to work!

This week I’ll be using a Chrome browser extension called Stay Focused. It lets me set an allotted time to view certain web pages. Once my time is up it blocks the website for the rest of the day. They also make a browser extension for Firefox user called Leech Block that does the same thing.

I look forward to staying more productive this week. Let me know how you make out and if you’ve been using other tools to stay focused and productive.

Today’s Resolution: Start Your Day With Yoga

Start Your Day With Yoga

I have always wanted to get into Yoga. I’ve just keep forgetting to do it. Today is the day! Do you do Yoga? What kind? How has it benefited your life? I’ve included a video below of beginner yoga session that anyone can do.

Today’s Resolution: Start a Dream Journal

I have pretty epic dreams. They usually involve celebrities, flying, and going to parties. I don’t remember most of my dreams and I’d love to remember more of them. Someone suggested I keep a dream journal at my bedside. The idea is once you wake up from a dream you immediately write down what happened.

Dream journals can be a great source of inspiration if you’re in the creative field. Do you already keep track of your dreams? Have you found it helpful. Let me know in the comments.

Today’s Resolution: Make Something From Scratch

Amanda and I are down in Florida and it should be no surprise that we’ve come across tons of road side orange stands. Theres hundreds of them. We’ve been making fresh squeezed orange juice everyday. It’s been a lot of fun and brings us to today’s resolution. Making something from scratch.

Whether it’s orange juice or chocolate chip cookies, make it from scratch. What did you make today? Let us know in the comments.

Today’s Resolution: Watch Something Inspiring

Watch Something Inspiring

There are times when you need a bit of inspiration.

I watched an inspiring video yesterday, that inspired me to inspire you.

It’s that time of year where commencement speeches start to circulate the Internet. This year there is a particular commencement speech that I think is a must watch. It’s the commencement speech given by Neil Gaiman to 2012 graduating class from  The University of the Arts. His advice is inspiring and universal.

I’d like you to watch a video that inspires you today. Below is the commencement speech video from Neil Gaiman. Please share the videos that have inspired you.

Today’s Resolution: Drive a New Route Home

Drive a New Route Home

Our lives can become a bit repetitive. We usually take the same routes to and from work. Today take a new route on your way home from work.

I was inspired to write this resolution because I keep coming across new roads to explore while we’re on our staycation in Florida. My mind starts to wander, where do these roads go? We’ll be exploring our surroundings and reporting back what we find.

Did you find something new and interesting on your new route home for work? Let me know what you found in the comments.

Today’s Resolution: Start With Your Foundation

start-with-your-foundation

Do you sometimes find yourself becoming negative for no reason? When something good happens to a friend, do you think about why that good thing is impractical or undeserved? Why do you feel that way? Is there something you’re unhappy with in your own life?

Today, root all of your actions, thoughts and behaviors with good intentions. This will help you form a foundation for the way you feel and think going forward.

Today’s Resolution: Check Your Life Analytics

Every website has a set of analytics which includes how many people look at the website, how long they pay attention, when they leave, and if they did anything worthwhile (like buy something) while they were there.

Today, think about the analytics of your life. How do people perceive you? Are you the type of person that you expect other people to be? In the last month, how many of your personal goals (big or small) have you accomplished?
