Today’s Resolution: Pay it Forward

pay it forward

We took a trip to the dog park with Napa (the dog) last week, where a guy told us about this time he honeymooned in Napa (the town). After feasting on $250 worth of food and wine and asking for the bill, the waiter told him and his wife that another couple had put the bill on their tab. When the guy asked for the couple’s address or information, the waiter said, “they said you’d ask, and they told me to tell you to do the same for someone else sometime.” You can’t make this stuff up. Or maybe he did, but we really liked the story and thought that it’d make a great resolution.

No need to make any grand gestures if you’re broke, but paying for the guy behind you in the coffee line would be a great start!

Today’s Resolution: Pick Up After Someone Else

Pick Up After Someone Else

How often do you go somewhere, a park, a dog park, or even a parking lot where people have left their trash behind? Today’s resolution to pick all that stuff up, because if you don’t, who will?

Thanks to Kim, one of our subscribers, for submitting this one!

Today’s Resolution: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de mayo

Cinco de Mayo is Spanish for “the fifth of May”, and celebrates the 1862 Battle of Puebla victory where the Mexicans kicked the crap out the French even though the French had been undefeated for fifty years and had about a third more troops! So, on this day, we Americans like the excuse to drink margaritas and eat nachos in their honor. Here are a few more ways to honor cinco de mayo:

  • Stay away from the Tex-Mex and instead opt for more traditional Mexican dishes like Chiles Rellenos, Mole Sauce, Tamales, along with a Tequila Sunrise.
  • Try a Cinco de Mayo Cocktail — 2 1/2 oz. tequila, 1 oz. grenadine, and 1 oz. lime juice combined with ice in a shaker. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and garnish with a slice of lime.
  • Make some maracas!

Have some better ideas for celebrating Cinco de Mayo? Any recipes? Share them in the comments!

Today’s Resolution: Call an Old Friend

Call An Old Friend

This resolution means a lot to me personally. I have so many old friends that I’ve lost touch with over the years. I plan on calling one of them today. I’m even going to take it step further and make it a point to call another friend next Friday.

Did you reconnect with an old friend today? Share your story in the comments.

Today’s Resolution: Write a Blog Post

Writing is an excellent way to clear your mind. Keeping a public or private blog is an excellent way to keep and share your written ideas with the world.

Today you’ll get all of those thoughts and ideas out of your head and into a blog post.

You may or may not have blog or website. Thats ok. It’s super easy to create a Tumblr account. You’ll have a blog up and running in minutes.

Feel free to share links to your blog posts in the comments.

Today’s Resolution: Go To The Movies

Go To The Movies

Movies on a Wednesday? That’s right. Today, try to make it to the movies. If you have no chance of getting to them, run out to the store an grab a bag of buttery popcorn. Fire up Netflix and and have a good time.

Today’s Resolution: Bring Breakfast

Bring Breakfast

Breakfast is the most often skipped meal. Today, try to bring a co-worker or colleague breakfast. It could be something as simple as buying them a coffee. Or as elaborate as pancakes and sausage . Whatever it is, make sure they start the day with something from you.

Today’s Resolution: Track Something This Week

A new week is upon us. Wouldn’t it be nice to know how many cookies you eat in a week? Or maybe how many cans of soda you drink?

This week choose something to track. It can be health related like your pulse or blood pressure. Food related, like how many times you eat out in a week.

Whatever it is, track the pieces of data that will help you make a decision once the week is done.

Maybe you’ll find that you don’t enough cookies during the week ;)!

I’d love to hear about what your tracking. I’ll be sharing what I track in the comments.

Today’s Resolution: Learn To Dance

Learn To Dance

Some people are blessed with the gift of dance. Other people are born with two left feet (I fall into this category).

Today you’ll learn with help of the internet. Below are a few video clips of dance lessons from YouTube. Feel free to learn a dance that fits your style.

Bonus points to anyone who posts a video of themselves dancing!

Today’s Resolution: Find An Old Notebook

Find an Old Notebook

Finding an old notebook isn’t the resolution. The real resolution starts with what you find in the notebook and the actions you take thereafter.

If you find positive memories and thoughts, be grateful that you have documented the memory.

If you find negative and painful memories. Try to forgive the person that caused you the pain. Once you feel at peace, toss the notebook in the trash. You can even tear the pages out if you find other notes you’d like to keep.

Some people may want to keep these negative memories as a reminder of their past. This is perfectly fine as long as you try to forgive the people or things that made you feel so bad.

Did you find this resolution helpful? Did you find an funny stories you’d like to share? Either way let me know by posting a comment.
